A small group of likeminded people got together, and created what is now the Peterborough Festival of Wheels, formerley Peterborough Classic & Vintage Vehicle Festival. 2019 was our first year, as we hosted the event at Peterborough Lions Rugby Club, where we also put on some evening entertainment on the Saturday in the form of a 'Rockabilly Night', where people danced to the amazing sounds of the HiBoy Trio.
The event would not have been possible without the amazing team who work tirelessly to ensure the site was prepared and all the necessary areas were sorted from waste removal, to traders and exhibitors.
Peterborough Festival of Wheels is open to all vehicles, as our motto says "Where Theres a Wheel, Theres a Way". Our 2020 event is set to be bigger and better. All vehicles will be seperated, dependent on age etc, with competitions for Best in Show, Best Motorcycle in Show, Best Club Display, plus more. We have also included a Charity Dog Show on Sunday 24th May, with all proceeds from the dog show going to Three Counties Dog Rescue.
Peterborough Festival of Wheels 2020 is being held at Peterborough Lions Rugby Club, Bretton, Peterborough, PE3 8ED. The beauty of this venue is that it is fully enclosed, and is easily accessible from the A47 and all major routes.
Another event run locally was axed by the organisers, so our team took on the task of keeping an evet alive in Peterborough. We started in 2019 with the event bbeing popular with a host of classic & vintage vehicles, however we soon realised we had missed a huge car owner audience, and so made the decision to make Peterborough Festival of Wheels 2020 open to all vehicles.
For our 2020 event we have chosen 2 very worthy charities SERV Cambridgeshire & Suffolk and Bike Tours for the Wounded. More infromation about our charities can be found by clicking here.
The event team are all volunteers and give up their time for free to help organise the event, along with a huge number of organisations who lend their support throughout the weekend.
For our 2020 event we have decided to bring the event forward slightly, as our 2019 event coincded with The Tour of Cambridgeshire Cycle Race. We have therefore decided to move the event to the Spring Bank Holiday weekend. Friday 22nd , Saturday 23rd, Sunday 24th & Monday 25th May
Our main event will be open to the public from 10am to 5pm. Entry is suggested donation of £2 per adult, with children entering for free.Starting on the Friday night (22nd May) with an open air cinema. We will open to the public for the main event 10am on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
We will also be running a programme of evening entertainment starting on Friday 22nd May with an Open Air Cinema showing the classic 'The Italian Job', foloowed by a Rock 'N' Roll night on Saturday with headline act RedbooT Rock n Roll Trio. To bring our programme of evening entertainment to an end on Sunday evening we are hosting the PBFOW Charity MusicFest, headlined by The Gangsters. More details can be found by clicking here.
